History
Ali Babà is an 8 Metre Class built by Baglietto di Varazze in 1925. Born as LIALA for the owner Mario Bruzzone it was then sold to a certain Enrico Pozzani. In 1926, with the name of CATINA IV, it won the prestigious Italian Cup. The boat, 14.50 meters long, has belonged since 1945 to a family of Swiss entrepreneurs. She was used by the progenitor as a support boat when he raced on the Lombard lakes aboard his Star, the dinghy with which he represented his nation at the Olympics five times. At the end of the 1980s Ali Babà, as all the boats owned by the Swiss industrialist were called, had already undergone extensive restoration at the Cislaghi shipyard on Lake Maggiore.
