History
"Brand VI" was designed by Johan Anker and built for him himself at the shipyard he owned in Vollen - Anker og Jensen. When "Brand VI" was launched in the 1921 sailing season, it was a state-of-the-art international regatta boat in the 8-metre class. In 1923 the boat came to Bergen and has been part of the sailing environment there ever since. The well-known Bergen architect F.Konow Lund owned the boat at one point. See ownership history hereSince 1975, "Brand VI" has been ashore and needs a major rebuilding of the hull. "Brand VI" is probably the most authentic 8mR we have in this country. It has not undergone major rebuilding or restoration since it was launched in 1921.Now the plan is to get "Brand VI" ready to sail again. Ankers new 8mR of 1921 "Brand VI" was based upon his drawing of 13-9-1920 and constructed by Anker & Jensen in spring 1921 given racing sail no. 8N18. In summer 1921 the new scantlings proposed by Lloyds were agreed upon. These proved not to be as expected and were revised in 1924 resulting in stronger and longer lasting yachts.
