History
Severn II was designed by Alfred Mylne and built in Ardmaleish, Scotland, in 1934. She defeated the French challenger L'Etoile in a series for the Cumberland Cup, back then a hotly contested international trophy in Europe. Sir Ralph Gore was at the helm and actor-to-be David Niven was a member of the crew. She was brought to Lake Ontario from the Clyde in 1975 by Steve Cameron, who raced her succesfully that season. Extensive hull renovations and minor rig and sail plan changes began the following year. In 1978 she was purchased by Cedric Gyles, Jr. and Dan Molloy. While actively campaigning her over the next two seasons, they completed the renovations begun in 1976. In 1982, Severn lI won the RCYC club championship and the local class association's overall title. A detailed Succession planning document can be found Here
