World Cup Cowes 2019
The 2019 International 8 Metre Class World Cup in Cowes, held from July 20th to 27th, brought together top competitors for a week of intense racing.
The Royal Yacht Squadron and the British Eight Metre Association were delighted to welcome competitors to the 8m World Cup in Cowes, held from July 20th to 27th, 2019. The RYS has a long-standing connection with metre racing, and the Race Officer for this regatta was Jonathan Peel, whose family raced 8m yachts in the 1930s, including REALITY and CARRON 2.
The 2019 International 8 Metre Class World Cup in Cowes, GBR, kicked off with the Société Nautique de Genève's "Annual Regatta on the Sea" as a tune-up event, where Jean Fabre and his team won both races. By the time Monday came around, four World Cup races had been completed, with Jean Fabre (SUI) leading the standings, followed by Werner Deuring (AUT) in second and Lars Ingeberg (NOR) in third.
