Juliane Hempel and Dr. Rüdiger Stihl at Classic Yacht Symposium 2023

“To give birth to an octogenarian”, is the title for yacht designer Juliane Hempel and owner Dr. Rüdiger Stihl at the Classic Yacht Symposium 2023 – 10th Edition. Their story is about the brand new 8 metre Starling Burgess that was built and named as a tribute to her 3x America’s Cup winning naval architect. She was launched at the yard of Josef Martin in Radolfzell Germany in 2021 to a 1937 W. Starling Burgess design that had not been built before. Juliane was responsible for the engineering, the lofting, the task of building her to the 1937 shape. The task was to build what had to be the most amazingly perfectly built new classic 8-Metre in modern times. and they did! She won the 8mR Sira Cup Worlds last summer in Geneve.
