First owner: Ditlev-Simonsen. Silja's successes in the thirtiesincluded the silver medal in the 1936 Olympic Games at Kiel, which sheWon after beating the German yacht Germania in a separate race as bothyachts had the same score. Silja was sold to Scotland in 1966 and wasSuccessfully raced for several years by Dr. HJWeir. For some years she waseven class champion on the Clyde. She beat the US Challenger "Cheetah"(skareen) in 1970 for the World Cup. In 1972 Silja was sold to Finland andwas extensively repaired in 1973, including replanking. Krister Ahiströmand Joni Hertell managed to defend the World Cup at Sandhamn 1975.In the World Cup in Helsinki 1978 Silja was second.
