History
If there is a racing boat that sailors look at with particular nostalgia, it is the 8-metre International Class. Certainly one of the main reasons is because it recalls the blue boat that won the gold medal at the 1936 Olympics, the only one in history won with a boat designed and built entirely in Italy. More than 70 years have passed since that feat and the epic of the legendary 8 meters, of which we Italians still keep numerous specimens, shows no sign of waning. One of the oldest 8 meters is Vega (I-4), a 1925 construction designed by that magician Vincenzo Vittorio Baglietto. Named after the brightest star in the constellation of Lyra, sailing yacht Vega is a vintage classic yacht with an impressive racing history. Successfully competing since 1925, all around Italy, sailing yacht VEGA's most recent triumphs have been at the Prada Trophy in Cannes, the Panerai Trophy Argentario and the Aletti Trophy in Naples.
