Vågspel was one of the last 8mR boats built in Finland.Designed by Birger Slotte and built by the Wilenius Båtvarv boat yard in Porvoo during the Finnish continuation war against the Soviet Union. First owner: Arthur E. Nikander. Won the famous Coppa d'italia in1950 with C. Mattson at the helm. She was owned by B. Strandvall at that time. Gustaf Donner has been a most distinquished captain aboard Vågspel since 1964 not only taking care to preserve the yacht in itsoriginal state but also observing all the traditions of 8mr yacht racing.
